Laar Music started with a simple idea: that great music making should be for everyone, not just the people who've been doing it for years, had lessons, or know how to read a score. For everyone.

We're a participative and performance music organisation based across South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, running choirs and music projects that bring people together to sing, learn, and put on genuinely brilliant performances — no experience necessary, no auditions, just a willingness to turn up and give it a go.

Our choirs include Doncaster Voices and Bassetlaw Voices, our evening performance choirs, and Daylight Singers, our daytime community choirs for anyone who'd rather sing in the afternoon than after a long day. We also work directly with schools, bringing choral music and workshops to young people who might not otherwise get the chance.

Music should feel like it belongs to everyone. We programme everything from contemporary choral gems to performances with full choir and professional jazz bands, brass or orchestra, and we care just as much about the newest member finding their voice for the first time as we do about the sound we make together on stage.

A first rehearsal shouldn't feel like a test. We know walking into a room full of strangers and singing out loud takes a bit of courage. We try to make that easier, not harder — there's no judgement here, just a room full of people glad you came.

Community comes first. Our choirs aren't just about the concerts (although we love those too) — they're about the friendships, the laughs at rehearsal, and the sense of being part of something bigger than yourself.
